A large shadow swept across the arena, before a large avian descended, landing before the knight. It's dark armor shone with a dark luster as its red gaze fell upon both Shalin and her pokemon.

"Let it be a fruitful bout."

A great wind blew around the arena as Queen Zing fired up her wings. Gwyar had to be aware of their tremendous power after their last meeting. If those wings were capable of bearing his weight (and he was no small man), they had to have some serious thrust behind them. The TAILWIND they created made it nontrivial for even Shalin to stand.

The matchup itself was a nightmare; the Corviknight's metal plumage would make Queen Zing's Poison Jabs completely useless at first. Whirling her foreleg stings like a Rhydon's horn, she would attempt to bore through the steel-type's metal armor in a DRILL RUN with the goal of exposing its soft flesh for venomous stings later in the match.

Lancelette attempted a barrel roll around her opponent, her sweeping form alone generating strong winds around herself as she positioned herself.

As her opponent came near, her head flashed towards it, striking with her sharp beak.

The metal bird and the wasp were both putting on incredible speed, their clashing winds blowing Shalin's long and light hair around every which way. Queen Zing's drone became louder as Shalin raised her hand to cover her MEGA CIRCLET, pointing its Infinity Energy toward her precious partner. Glowing with the light of MEGA EVOLUTION, two more stings had sprouted from her forelegs.

The PLUCKING beak tore into even the Beedrill's tough carapace, but it left the corvid vulnerable to where those whirling stingers had left a chink in its armor. It was a chink that Queen Zing was ready to plunge her FELL STINGER into. The armor may have been too tough to pierce with a thin barb, but not the flesh beneath!

As the Mega evolved bee came for her weak point, the avian swiftly improvised her own countermeasurses.

Her wings shone with a steel gleam, becoming rigid and sharp as she performed a quick roll before flapping sharply to launch herself at her opponent; her silhouette shimmered as Gwyar raised his fist in the air, the light of mega evolution enveloping the charging Corviknight.

The two Mega Evolved Pokémon clashed, the Infinity Energy repairing the holes in the bird's armor and shunting Queen Zing's sting back into her abdomen. Her eyes flickered varying shades of blue, a sign of great pain from the sudden shove. With no chinks in the armor now and Mega Evolution purging the poison, she would have to nail Lancelette where there were natural gaps.

Pointing her four stings at the Corviknight's face, she desperately loosed a rapid-fire TWINEEDLE barrage with double the usual firepower thanks to her apex form. Without the ability to utilize her venom, the ferocious insect may as well have been helpless as a Magikarp.

Lancelette felt a burst of confidence after their first clash, the scales of battle shifting to a more equal plane.

Now, she just needed to tilt them again, in her favor. If she didn't get her wings clipped by the sudden, aggressive barrage, that is.

The drones following after her moved in tandem like machine-work, Throwing themselves in the needles' path like living bullets, attempting to divert the frenzy of blows away from Lancelette's body whilst her aura surged towards Queen Zing.

Lancelette's POWER TRIP used Queen Zing's Infinity Energy against her, the sheer pressure it put on her body knocking her out of her apex form, and worse yet, out of the sky. Sweating sticky fluid around the cracks in her carapace, the Beedrill was reeling and on the back foot. Her wings roared, but she could not take off, lacking the strength to beat them rapidly enough to get into the air.

Forced to battle desperately and defensively, all she could do was shakily raise her two stings into the air. She held them toward the Corviknight not as swords, but as shields, looking to stab and POISON JAB at the steel-type through chinks in her armor. It was a long shot, but it was the only shot she had if she wanted to turn the match around.

This would've been an ideal opportunity to end the match— but unfortunately for Lancelette and Gwyar, they too had run out of juice.

As the Mega evolution ceased, a wave of vertigo and exhaustion hit Lancelette as she swept through the skies, not quite flying but gliding instead as she attempted to recover.

She couldn't afford to give her opponent time to get back her own wings, however... She dived.

Like a bullet, she dropped down towards Queen Zing, her wings spreading wide without warning as she neared, glowing brightly.

The Corviknight's angle was just barely off, her STEEL WING cracking another section of the wasp's armor rather than piercing it in a match-ending blow. It left the bird wide open to a counterattack, Shalin pumping a fist when she thought she saw the POISON JAB strike flesh beneath the armor.

With the match timer running down, this match would likely come down to a judge decision. As much as Shalin wanted to order her Beedrill to try to strike the same spot a second time, it was far too great of a risk. She simply crossed her stings in front of her face like one would hold two swords ready to parry in defense.

Rushing oft lead to mistakes, and Lancelette had certainly flown straight into a big one.

Though poison had little effect on steel types, she was already tired and battered; her systems were not up for fighting the spread. Not as effectively— she either ended the fight right now, or resign to another loss.

One last ditch effort.

A blazing aura enveloped her as she turned to face the bug, accelerating to the limit in order to strike down her opponent.

Queen Zing had fought valiantly, managing to hang in there until the buzzer went off; the BRAVE BIRD had struck after the clock reached zero. Maybe she had a chance? The match would go to a judge decision. Without even convening, all of them pointed their red flags at the Ranger. The better combatant, Sir Gwyar, had won.

"I'm so proud of Queen Zing for making that a match in the first place," the green-dressed girl said to her opponent as she withdrew her fallen friend. "Sadly for her, overcoming physical realities is just... hard. She wasn't going to win against a Pokémon like Corviknight. But that's part of competition, or so many of the Gym Leaders say."

He smiled at Lancelette as she landed nearby, petting her side gently.

"You did wonderfully." He said softly, his gaze moving over her injured (and poisoned form). "Let's not delay."

No need to prolong her suffering.

As Shalin approached with a few words to share, the blonde regarded regarded her briefly before nodding.

"Of course, young lady. You performed admirably." He said simply, before returning Lancelette to her pokeball. "Thank you for the match. Best of luck in your future battles."
